New York Fashion Week: Best beauty looks on the catwalk including colour pop and unicorn tears
Now that New York Fashion Week is over and the fashion crowd are heading to the London shows, IBTimesUK brings you the best beauty trends on the catwalk that you can try at home now.
Colour Pop
Fun pops of colour were seen on the catwalks of Jeremy Scott and Jason Wu. With bright neon blue eye liners and shadows paired with candy pink lips, these clashes of colours are a fun way to inject colour to a look.
If you are not brave enough to wear both bright eyes and lips together, these looks still look beautiful separately. Try Revlon Colour Burst Lip Balm in Lovesick; £7.99 and for eyes the Urban Decay electric pressed pigment palette; £38.
Ombre Lips
Creatures of the Wind featured bold ombre lips; this look adds dimension while keeping the rest of your make-up simple, which makes for a real statement. NYX now has its own ombre lip kits for $12 (£8.50) so you can achieve this catwalk look at home.
Unicorn Tears
It's not just unicorns that cry sparkling tears, now you can too. Giulietta featured tears of glitter falling from the eyes of models. It may be a bold look but can easily be toned down. If you feel like trying it, all you need is cosmetic glue and glitter. Try the H&M Beauty loose glitter; £4.99, which is available in five shades – apply as full on tears or simply sweep across the eyelid.
Urban Gothic
Rihanna's collection with Puma featured modern goths with matte black lips and heavily lined eyes, paired with a shock of white, painted hair. Leaving the painted hair aside, the black lips are much easier to master than you would think. Anastasia Beverly Hills in opaque black; $20 (£14) is the perfect matte black lip to create this look with.
Grunge Lux
Grunge, courtesy of the 1990s, is back again and is one trend designers never tire of, although this season it has had a refined makeover by Alexander Wang. With effortless smudged out eye make-up and bare skin, he recreates this iconic look adding his trademark luxurious yet rebellious touch. Tartelette Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette; $45 (£31.50) has the perfect warm shades for this classic look.
Fresh Rose
Beautiful fresh faced skin never goes out of style and we saw it again this year at Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors and many more who all paired their designs with minimal make-up and radiant skin. Brushed up full eyebrows and glossy eyelids add dimension to the face without over contouring. Do this yourself at home by adding a small amount of light MAC lipglass; £14.50 to the lids.
Skin looked fresh and bronzed but not orange for the Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors girls. Get that fresh look to your skin with the old favourite Clarins Beauty Flash Balm; £29, used either alone or under a thin layer of your favourite foundation.
