If you thought it was a big world out there... well, it really isn't.

When Hollywood leading ladies Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes wound up at the same spot in Los Angeles - the Soho House - it led to a rather awkward moment.

Holmes is married to fellow actor Tom Cruise, who was Kidman's husband of 11 years... and as it usually is in such situations, the air got a little frosty!

"When Katie walked upstairs to the lounge, she saw Nicole and immediately looked away like she was trying very hard to avoid eye contact with her. It was like she was taken off guard - it was like a standoff! They didn't even say hi. It was so awkward! Nicole just looked at Katie, then looked away. But after Katie noticed Nicole in the lounge, she quickly walked to the patio area," a source told Life & Style Magazine.

Kidman and Cruise's children live with their father and Katie Holmes. In addition, Cruise has a daughter with Holmes.
