Overview

World number one Djokovic will look to win his third straight Rome Masters title when he faces Murray in the final on Sunday. The Serb comes into this clash after battling injury and an inspired Kei Nishikori to eventually scrape through winning 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the semi final.

Despite losing a match point at 4-5, the Serb turned the game completely to beat Nishikori. What will be of concern to Djokovic is the extent of his ankle injury and with the 28-year-old looking fatigued it may just be that he will not be 100% fit coming into the tie.

Andy Murray on the other hand comes into this clash after demolishing world number 52 Lucas Pouille 6-2, 6-1 in a game that lasted only 59 minutes. The Scot has an advantage in the sense that he has not even reached the three-hour mark on court compared to his opponent who has played for almost six hours in his last two games.

The Scot who will celebrate his 29th birthday will know that he stands a chance to win his first Rome Masters title considering that Djokovic is currently struggling from fatigue and ankle problems.
