OnePlus 2 to be available via open sales without invite in late September
While apologising for the delayed rollout of OnePlus2, OnePlus said it has plans for opening up sales of the device in late September or early October. But it will be for an hour only. The company's new move is intended to make the availability a painless affair for prospective buyers.
The manufacturer has not provided the specific sales dates, but says it will first look into the production and operations to set a suitable schedule. Although the company had planned for a smooth rollout and built up sizable inventory, the shipment kicked off in meaningful quantities only this week, almost a month after the estimated shipping date.
According to co-founder Carl Pei, reasons for the slow rollout include issues regarding hardware, cash flow, inventory, supply chain and production. He added: "In fact, there are very few excuses in this world that are valid. We simply messed up again and apologise for that. We don't plan on making further promises for future launches, and will instead focus on showing the world how we've improved through our actions."
