The Fall/Winter Paris Fashion Week started with a bang on 28 February, with top models Karlie Kloss, Anja Rubik and Joan Smalls walking the ramp for the various opening shows.
Kloss, a 19-year-old supermodel known for appearances at high-profile shows like the Victoria's Secret annual event, walked the ramp for Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello to showcase his ready-to-wear women's collection.
There was earlier much speculation and buzz over Kloss' non-appearance at recent fashion weeks in New York, London and Milan. She finally did take to the ramp, dressed in a navy satin duchesse suit.
Kloss was joined by other big names like Anja Rubik and Joan Smalls.
Polish model Anja Rubik also made her runway appearance for designer Anthony Vaccarello. She wore an asymmetrical one-shoulder black and gold evening gown.
The opening day of the fashion week was dedicated to young designers. Portugal's Fatima Lopes presented a collection that exuded a geisha feel with disk-shaped hats, blood-red lip colors and red heels.
An AFP report said long-sleeved, high-necked dresses hugged the figure of Lopes' models to the knee, in dark leather with lighter strips at the side and burgundy fur draped cape-like from the shoulders or in pale prints that suggested a network of delicate veins.
