Porn veteran and James Deen accuser Amber Rayne dies from suspected overdose in Los Angeles
Award-winning US porn star Amber Rayne has been found dead at her Los Angeles home from a suspected overdose. The 31-year-old, whose real name was Meghan Wren, is believed to have collapsed before passing away in her sleep on Sunday (3 April).
Ed Winter, assistant chief of the Los Angeles County coroner's office, said her death was reported as a possible accident or overdose and an autopsy and toxicology will be completed later this week. Her death sent shockwaves through the porn industry with actors and actresses describing her as "generous" and "kind". Her final tweet on Saturday suggested she was in good spirits:
Fiend of the star and director Stormy Daniels told industry publication AVN: "She was a really good friend, and one of the best actresses and performers that I've ever had the pleasure to work with, and I'm just glad that I had the opportunity to work with her and call her a friend."
A darling of the porn industry, Rayne earned more than 500 film credits over a decade-long career that started in 2005. She earned AVN Award nominations for roles in titles such as The 8th Day and last year's Wanted and was named Unsung Starlet of the Year in 2009.
Her private life concentrated on horses she had at a farm she owned and in 2011 announced she had beaten uterine cancer. Her name made headlines in 2015 when she was revealed as one of 10 women accusing actor James Deen of sexual assault while on set. She claimed Deen – who denies all allegations – punched her in the face before having sex with her.
