Psy's Gangnam Style breaks the internet with YouTube views landmark

Move over Kim Kardashian's bum, Korean pop masterpiece Gangnam Style has actually broken the internet... or YouTube at least.
The music video for Psy's world-conquering 2012 hit has passed another milestone of views, passing 2,147,483,647 - a number greater than the 32-bit integer (data units stored in binary) used under the site's bonnet.
"We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met Psy," said YouTube on Google+.
"Gangnam Style has been viewed so many times we have to upgrade! Hover over the counter in Psy's video to see a little math magic and stay tuned for bigger and bigger numbers on YouTube."
Hover over the counter now and the numbers will spin around, a little Easter egg poking fun at the problem. YouTube have since upgraded to a 64-bit integer model.
In using a 64-bit integer, YouTube won't be expecting to require an update until a video passes 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 hits.
So whenever the new One Direction single comes out then...
