QPR Complete Deal for Exciting Young Winger
Junior Hoilett completes his move to Loftus Road
Queens Park Rangers have announced that they have completed a deal to sign highly-rated winger Junior Hoilett.
The Canadian-born midfielder has signed a four year contract with the club after his deal with Blackburn Rovers came to an end and he was free to choose which side he wanted to join.
QPR beat off competition from a number of Premier League clubs and Hoilett now becomes the seventh signing of a very busy summer for Hughes who is keen to try and take the club forward and steer them clear of a relegation dog fight.
The 22-year-old joins Rob Green, Ryan Nelsen, Fabio da Silva, Andy Johnson, Ji-Sung Park and Samba Diakite at Loftus Road and Hughes was quick to reveal his delight at signing Hoilett to the west London club.
"Junior is a player I know very well," Hughes told the clubs official website. "He was just a young boy trying to make his way in the game when I had him at Blackburn.
"It was difficult for him then because of work permit issues, but I had him training with the first team very early on because his talent was there for all to see.
"We knew then he was going to have a great future and he's certainly showed that talent over the last few seasons at Ewood Park. He's shown he's a player of top quality and a player that can makes things happen, both on his own and as a team player.
"He's certainly a player that will enhance what we've got in the group and I am delighted he's chosen to come to us."
QPR will still have to pay a nominal fee for the attacking midfielder which will be decided by a tribunal as he is under 24-years-of-age and was trained by Blackburn.
He will be a strong addition to the QPR squad after a fantastic season with Blackburn in which he scored seven Premier League goals for a side that was eventually relegated.
"QPR are a club that are certainly heading in the right direction. The ambition to take this club to the next level was something I really wanted to be part of," Hoilett told the QPR website.
"The manager and the owners have huge ambitions to achieve things here and this is the perfect place for me to further my career."
