Overview
Nadal comes into the game after beating Stan Wawrinka 6-1, 6-4 in the quarter-final. This will be the third time the duo faces each other in the semi-final of the Monte Carlo Masters. The eight-time winner has looked in ominous form so far. Though not back to his best, he has shown glimpses of what he is capable off. With a number of experts predicting Nadal to win his ninth Monte Carlo Masters title, he will go into the game as the favourite. The 29-year-old is yet to win a title in 2016.
Murray too comes into the clash in good form after cruising past Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-0 in the quarter-final. This will be his biggest test as he generally struggles to make the transition from hard courts to clay courts. The 28-year-old has the experience of beating Nadal as he won the Madrid Masters final last year. Though he comes into the game as the underdog, he will know that if he sticks to his strengths he will stand a good chance of reaching the final.
