Redhead emoji expected in 2018
You could get the redhead emoji in the next update Unicode

If you don't think there's enough emoji diversity when it comes to expressing your hair then things could be set to change next year.

According to Jeremy Burge, chief emoji officer at Emojipedia, it has submitted new emoji candidates to represent a person with grey hair, curly hair and bald head, along with the redhead to Unicode Consortium.

Each of the emoji may include variations for gender and skin tone. If get approved, these emojis are set to be released in 2018.

Unicode notes the images used in the document are used as examples only and the final version may vary.

Emojipedia has even given example of celebrities in the document to support each emoji. Such as Jessica Chastain and Ed Sheeran for red hair; That Poppy and Anderson Cooper for grey hair; Ciara Anderson and Kit Harington for curly hair and Sinead O'Connor and Samuel L Jackson for bald head.

As many as 21,833 supporters signed a petition urging Apple and Unicode to add redhead emoji.

The petition reads: "Redheads. In all their glorious gingerness, they've been missed out. Again. If you say you're going to diversify, why not add a few red-haired emoji in the mix? Natural redheads may be rare at less than 2% of the world's population, but that is 138,000,000 iPhones waiting to happen."
