How to Install AOSP JRO03L Based Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update on Galaxy Nexus I9250
Step 1: Download the latest version of AOSP JRO03L ROM
Step 2: Download the Google Apps package
Step 3: Without extracting, copy the two downloaded zip files in step 1 and 2 to the internal SD card on the phone.
Step 4: Power off the phone and boot into TWRP or ClockworkMod (CWM) recovery through a button sequence. Press and hold the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power buttons together till the screen powers on. Then, use volume buttons to navigate to the Recovery mode option, and then select it by tapping the Power button. The phone should now reboot in recovery mode.
Step 5: Hit Backup, and then slide the blue circle button at the bottom to the right to start backing up your existing ROM, so that you can restore it later if something goes wrong with the new ROM. Once backup is done, return to the main menu by clicking the home button at the bottom left of the screen.
Step 6: Click on Install, then browse and select the ROM file you downloaded in step 1 above. Confirm ROM installation to flash it.
Step 7: After the ROM is successfully installed, repeat step 6, but this time select the gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip file to flash the Google apps package. Confirm Gapps installation to complete the flashing process.
Step 8: Click on Wipe, then tap Factory Reset and then hit Yes to confirm the data wipe. This will not wipe your internal SD card's contents, so leave it alone. Now, return to the main menu by tapping the home button after data wipe process completes.
Step 9: Once wipe is done, hit the Reboot system button to reboot the phone into the new ROM. First boot is time consuming and will take about 5 to 7 minutes.
NOTE: If you want to restore your previous ROM, boot into recovery, tap Restore, then restore your previous ROM by selecting it from the list.
