A rundown of Ariana Grande and Mac Miller's romance after they are pictured kissing

Cupid appears to have played matchmaker with musicians Ariana Grande and Mac Miller. The Way collaborators are rumoured to be dating after they were pictured kissing during a dinner date in Los Angeles on 21 August.

It may come across as though their romance blossomed out of nowhere but Grande and Miller have actually been on each other's radar for more than three years.

Photos obtained by TMZ show Grande, 23, and Miller, 24, engrossed in conversation at the Katsu-Ya restaurant in Encino before indulging in PDA. According to onlookers, Grande was seen lying in Miller's lap at one point, while the images shows the pop star planting a kiss on the rapper. The date comes just weeks after Grande split from her dancer boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, whom she had dated for a year.

Although Grande and Miller have been well acquainted for years, their romance may come as a surprise considering the rapper has denied dating rumours in the past. The pair first worked together in 2013 with Miller featuring on Grande's debut single The Way and the music video did little to calm the romance rumours.

Grande acts as Miller's muse in the visuals, with the rapper following her around and taking photographs before they embrace for a passionate kiss at the end. Addressing the dating rumours in an interview with MTV News at the time, Miller said: "That's the homie. She's got a boyfriend and everything. Obviously, that [kiss] made everyone talk. I didn't even know that was going to happen and then we were shooting and the director was like 'This should happen' and I'm like 'Alright'."

He continued: "she's a very, very talented singer, like, she can sing incredibly. And, that's awesome and she's a great person. She's one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life... So it's kind of like the music that we made was why that happened. That was the chemistry and that's where the experience happened and that's why it made sense to do that song."

That was not the end of Grande and Miller's professional relationship as the rapper later contributed a verse to a remix of the singer's track Into You. Lyrics include: "Heard you got a man, baby, I could do it better/ And it really ain't the plan, I just want you to remember/ How it was, how it is, how it could be." Reading between the lines and looking back in hindsight, the lyrics are rather telling of Miller's true feelings.

Earlier in August, Grande was seen watching Miller perform at West Virginia University and has since appeared in several of the rapper's Snapchat videos. The Dangerous Woman singer is no stranger to dating other musicians with previous high-profile romances including rapper Big Sean and The Wanted singer Nathan Sykes. Grande and Miller are yet to address the rumours but it's safe to say they are the latest paired-up pop couple.
