Samsung Galaxy S6 Active with Quad HD resolution spotted in UAProf

Samsung could be planning for a spin-off of its flagship Galaxy S6 smartphone.

A user agent profile (UAProf) from the Samsung Mobile server, has mentioned an unannounced Samsung device bearing model number SM-G890A.

The model number of SM-G890A matches with the SM-G870A, which is the AT&T variant of Galaxy S5 Active. And SM-G890A is expected to be the rugged version of the Galaxy S6 smartphone dubbed Galaxy S6 Active for AT&T.

As per the UAProf, the SM-G890A model packs a Quad HD screen resolution at 1440 x 2560 pixels, similar to that of what Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge have. Besides, it also suggests the use of ARM11 CPU.

Notorious Twitter leakstar Upleaks has also tweeted that SM-G890A is seemingly the Galaxy S6 Active.

Like the Galaxy S5 Active, the S6 Active is likely in May, says MySamsungphones.

While there are no details about other hardware features of Galaxy S6 Active, most of it can be gleaned from the Galaxy S6. Most features of Galaxy S5 match that of the S5 Active.

Featuring a 5.1in Super AMOLED screen and octa-core application processor, paired with a 3GB RAM, the Galaxy S6 along with the S6 Edge will be available globally starting from 10 April. The smartphones have a 16 megapixel rear camera and five megapixel front-facing camera, that offer a wide range of software features.

The new Galaxy devices will run Android 5.0 Lollipop out-of-box and boast LTE Cat.6 connectivity. The S6 uses a 2,550mAh battery whereas the S6 Edge has a 2,600mAh battery.
