Samsung expected to launch Galaxy Note 8.0 at 2013 MWC event in Barcelona
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) event at Barcelona is just a month away where tech majors across the world are expected to showcase their flagship devices. Ahead of the event, a lot of rumours are doing the rounds about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy device with model number GT-N5100.
The South Korean mobile manufacturer is expected to unveil its GT-N5100 which is said to be Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 at the MWC.
The Galaxy Note 8.0, according to Sammobile, code-named Kona, is expected to come in two versions: 3G/Wi-Fi (GT-N5100) and Wi-Fi only (GT-N5110).
The upcoming Note (GT-N5100) will feature an 8in TFT (Super Clear LCD) display with a resolution measuring 800 x 1280 pixels. The tablet will measure 211.3 x 136.3 x 7.95mm in thickness, weighing approximately 330g.
The device will have a primary camera of five megapixel and a secondary camera of 1.3 megapixel. It will come in two storage variants: 16GB and 32GB with support for microSD card for additional storage space. In terms of connectivity, the Note 8.0 is expected to offer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.0 and USB 2.0. The device may support data speed HSPA up to 21.1 Mbps and HSUPA up to 5.76Mbps.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 is expected to run on the latest Jelly Bean version, Android 4.2. It will use a battery of 4600mAh. The new Note is also expected to bundle S-Pen functions.
The Galaxy Note 8.0 will be powered by Exynos 4412 chip featuring a quad-core processor, with each core running at clock speeds up to 1.6GHz. The tablet will have 2GB of RAM.
It is believed that the Note 8.0 will be pitched against Apple's newly released iPad mini featuring a 7.9in display.
The features leak has been followed by benchmark test results of the Galaxy Note 8.0 which were first published by GLBenchmark suggesting how Samsung's new Note compares against the iPad mini and several other rival devices. What is different, the site notes, is that the Jelly Bean version is Android 4.1.2 not Android 4.2.
