The international version of the Samsung Galaxy S2 (I9100) has another custom ROM released, ahead of the official Jelly Bean update. This new build - Slim Bean - contains Android 4.1.2 on build number JZO54K. The latest build brings several features, which includes the following:

  • Fixes default ringtones
  • Backup tool incorporated
  • Multi DPI play store 3.9.16
  • Nav bar icon fixed
  • Fast charger icon fixed
  • A new lock-screen Glowpad icon

Pre-Requisites

  • Download appropriate USB drivers for Galaxy S2 and also enable USB debugging mode
  • This firmware is compatible only with the Galaxy S2 I9100
  • Backup all important data before proceeding
  • Device should be factory unlocked and ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery should be installed
  • Ensure at least 80 percent battery charge (check battery percentage here)

To Install Android 4.1.2 JZO54K Slim Bean on Galaxy S2

  • Download Slim Bean Android 4.1.2 JZO54K to computer
  • Download Google Apps package
  • Connect Galaxy S2 to computer and copy downloaded zip files to SD card
  • Disconnect device from computer and turn it off
  • Place device in Recovery Mode by switching it on while pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons
  • In CWM recovery, perform a full data wipe
  • Navigate to Flash zip from SD Card and press Power button to select
  • Press Power again and select Choose zip from SD Card
  • Using Volume buttons, browse to ROM file on SD card, select firmware and confirm installation
  • After installation, repeat step to select and install Google Apps package
  • After installation, return to main Recovery menu and reboot device; this may take up to five minutes
