Serena Williams wedding: Did Kanye West skip the ceremony to avoid run-in with Beyonce?
Kim Kardashian and Beyonce attended Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian wedding sans their partners.
It is a love story straight from the fairytales when Serena Williams said "I Do" to the love of her life Alexis Ohanian. On 16 November, the tennis ace and her Reddit Co-founder partner got married in a breathtaking "Beauty and the Beast" themed ceremony at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
The wedding was attended by the couple's close friends and families. While the guest list included some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, fans were more excited about Beyonce and Kim Kardashian as their husbands still remain at loggerheads over multiple issues.
It appears that the Lemonade hitmaker and the social media queen decided to put the feud on hold as they attended Williams' wedding. The duo reportedly had an 'icy' exchange at the wedding ceremony while seated in the front row.
However, both the leading ladies came solo to the event and many speculated that the families wanted to avoid an unpleasant situation. Contrary to the rumours, a source told Hollywood Life that the Pablo rapper "chose to avoid" the wedding as he was not close to the tennis legend or her Reddit co-founder husband.
The source said: "It was no accident that Kanye chose to avoid Serena's wedding. Kanye is not particularly close with Serena, or her husband, who are more Kim's friends so Kanye opted out of what he felt may be an awkward evening for him."
Kanye and Jay-Z has been feuding since last year after the Famous rapper went on a stage rant and barbed against the music power couple last year. The relationship between the family friends turned sour ever since and were seen avoiding any social exchange thereafter.
The discord between the two grew further after the music mogul publicly slammed Kanye in a radio interview for dragging his family into the rant. "You got hurt, because this guy was talking about you on a stage," Jay-Z said on the podcast. "But what really hurt me, you can't bring my kid or my wife into it. Like, Kanye is my little brother. He's talked about me a hundred times. He even made a song called 'Big Brother.' We've gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it's a problem."
Apart from his not-so-close relationship with the tennis star, Yeezy also wanted to avoid any awkward run-in with Queen Bey. "Beyoncé, a close friend of Serena's, would likely be at the wedding which might make for an uncomfortable situation," the Hollywood Life source added.
