Shah Rukh Khan on adapting Breaking Bad for Bollywood: 'It is too evolved for Indian TV'
Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan may take on the role of Breaking Bad's Walter White in an Indian feature film adaptation of the popular US TV series.
In a recent interview with The Indian Express, the Dilwale star was asked to comment on rumours about him adapting Breaking Bad for Indian TV. While SRK confirmed that he is toying with the idea, he also clarified that he wants to make it into a movie rather than a TV show.
"I want to make it into a movie. As a series, it is too evolved to come on Indian television. The Indian audience won't be accepting of meth, drugs and the mafia," explained the actor. "But the story of a man who is going to die and takes a chance to save his family is a good premise for a feature film."
Talking about the development status of this project, Khan said, "I have asked some people who have said that they would get me the rights. I am at that age when it will be interesting to take up such a role."
When asked if he will play the role of protagonist Walter White in the potential Indian adaptation, SRK quipped, "Great films don't work without me."
