A shocking video has emerged that shows a cyclist knocked off his bike then assaulted by a van driver in Emerson Park, Essex.

In the cyclist's head-cam footage, the rider appears to yell out at the van driver, "get off the phone, you muppet". This prompts the van driver to steer close to cyclist until his wheels get caught on the curb and he is knocked over.

A heated argument then breaks out between the two before the van driver punches the cyclist to the ground, as a member of the public rushes to confront the driver about the incident.

The video shows the company on the van to be Billericay-based Taylor Landscaping. Essex Police posted on Twitter that they are aware of the video, asking the victim to contact them.
