Sony Xperia U Available in UK: Best Retailer Deals

Sony Xperia U - a Xperia series smartphone from the Japanese giants was announced in February. It is now available for purchase from UK retailer Dial-A-Phone and from the Three mobile network, according to Techradar.
Deals reportedly start from £10.50 per month and a Vodafone package offers 300 minutes of talk time, unlimited texts and 250MB of data for £20.50 with six months of free line rental. The Three network offers an all-you-can-eat data plan which sees the customer pay £18 per month with a £39 upfront cost, according to a report by Omio.
Consumers ordering from Dial-A-Phone should get the handsets on 25 May and those from Three will get it on 22 May.

The Sony Xperia U features a 3.5in LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen which is protected by scratch-resistant glass. The display is powered by a Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine and features the Timescape user interface. The resolution of the display is 480x854 pixels with a pixel density of 280 pixels per inch.

The Xperia U measures 112x54x12mm and weighs 110g.
Operating System
The Xperia U runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and can be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The Xperia U is powered by a STE U8500 chip with dual-core 1GHz processing unit and the smartphone houses 512MB of RAM.

The Xperia U sports a five megapixel main camera with auto-focus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch-focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama and image stabilisation technologies. The camera is capable of capturing video in 720p at 30 frames per second. The handset packs a VGA quality front-facing camera.

The Xperia U offers Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, DLNA, Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP and EDR. It supports data speeds of up to HSDPA 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA 5.76Mbps.
Storage
The Xperia U offers 4GB of storage space and unfortunately does not support microSD cards.

The Xperia U is powered by a 1320mAh LI-ion battery.
