Stephen Amell teases theme of Arrow season 6 and reveals his favourite villains
'I thought Manu Bennet in season 2 did a marvelous job,' admits Amell.
Stephen Amell has shared details about Arrow season 6 when he appeared at a panel at Heroes and Villains FanFest in London over the weekend.
The Arrow actor revealed that the theme for season 6 is family. He told the crowd, "The theme of Season 5 was legacy. From what I understand, the theme of Season 6 is family." The theme seems apt after the shocking events season 5 finale, wherein Oliver goes back to Lian Yu to save his friend and family and watches helplessly with his son William, as the island goes up in flames with Thea, Felicity and John Diggle and many others in it.
Adding more details about Arrow season 6 theme, showrunner Wendy Mericle said, "The mayor's office has gotten really good at covering up all that stuff, but it's a good question. I think we'll be able to find story ways to skirt past that, but it highlights what's going to be a central question for season 6, which is, how can he do both?"
"We've played with that in the past in different ways before, but I think that the success of what he's done in the mayor's office and his ability to have impact is going to raise those stakes to a different level and hopefully create some great stories," she added.
When asked to name his favourite Arrow villains, Amell mentioned Manu Bennet' character, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke. The 36-year-old actor said, "I thought Manu Bennet in season 2 did a marvellous, marvellous job. I don't think of John [Barrowman] as a villain so much, maybe because I know him, but I thought that also that the personal element between Oliver and Adrian, and just the fact that we were able to button up so much of the story and so many of the things..."
Arrow season 6 will return in fall of 2017 and The CW is yet to announce the official premiere date.
