Surface Pro 4 firmware update improves battery life and touch functionality
Microsoft said the update also enhances stability of the tablet.
Microsoft began rolling out a new update to its Surface Pro 4 devices starting 25 May, which brings a bunch of improvements to the device.
As detailed in the Microsoft Surface Update history page, the latest release improves battery life of the tablet in the sleep mode, disables touch when the cover is closed and improves the overall stability of the Surface Pro 4.
The update adjusts system hibernation defaults and optimises touch functionality. Upon installing the update, you will no longer experience the screen brightness issue when the device comes out of sleep. Additionally, it refines brightness settings and optmises touch functionality.
Keep in mind that the updates are offered in stages, meaning all Surface users will not receive the update at the same time. Also, note that you cannot uninstall or revert a firmware update to an earlier version. You may manually check for the update from Windows Update.
To install the update manually:
- Go to Start menu>> Settings>> Update & security>> Windows Update
- Select Check for updates, if it is available for you click Install
- Finally select Restart now when you see the prompt to do so.
