Teenage girls slash 18-year-old's face in unprovoked attack in Greater Manchester
Attack took place in Tyldesley on 1 November at approximately 6.15pm and GMP are appealing for witnesses.
An 18-year-old girl has had her hair and face slashed with scissors after suffering a brutal and unprovoked attack in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester.
Three teenage girls reportedly wrestled the victim to the ground from behind, before one of the assailants pulled out a pair of scissors, which she used to cut the victim's face and hair. The thugs also kicked the victim while she lay on the ground, leaving her with a broken rib.
The unnamed victim subsequently managed to free herself from the attack and found her way home.
Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information about the incident, which is understood to have taken place at around 6.15pm on 1 November on Princess Avenue.
"This was a completely random attack on a young woman that has left her mentally and physically scarred," said Police Constable James McCallion of GMP's Wigan Borough
"The brutal manner with which they cut her hair and then left her with a broken rib is something they should be utterly ashamed of.
"The assault happened on a busy street at a time when people will have been making their way back from work, so I'd ask anyone who saw anything to get in touch."
