Thierry Henry advises Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign Leicester City midfielder N'Golo Kante
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been urged to sign Leicester City star N'Golo Kante by Gunners legend Thierry Henry. The French midfielder has been a key player in the centre of the pitch for the Foxes and has been instrumental in helping his side sit on top of the league table.
The 25-year-old arrived at the King Power Stadium from Caen last summer. His impressive display has seen him attract interest from the Emirates club and their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.
Kante has a £20m ($28.8m) release clause in his contract at Leicester. The former Gunners attacker believes adding the France international will only bolster Arsenal's squad for the next season.
"It looks like Arsenal can and should finish in the top four, but there is something to look forward to, and that's next season."
"If [Alexis] Sanchez can perform the way he's performing at the minute, and we have Mesut Ozil carrying on giving the assists he's been giving since the start of the season, then you can think if you have that striker who can score in that moment - maybe N'Golo Kante [as well], we have lots of names we can throw around.
"Mahrez was also linked, but it's going to be a very busy summer for Arsene because you need to get that excitement back and the fans to look forward to something for next season."
Claudio Ranieri is aware of the growing interest from top clubs for Kante's signature. The Leicester manager admitted that the Premier League leaders will allow the midfielder to leave the club in the summer if potential suitors could match their asking price.
"He is working very well. But if some big teams arrive who give us a lot of big money, maybe we can think about it," Ranieri explained.
"If he is not happy here and wants to go. I don't want sad people here. I want happy people. He is always smiling. It is speculation and now our focus is on the pitch. After is another season."
