This chainsaw-powered blender is the supercharged home appliance you definitely don't need
Blenders, chainsaws and motorbikes are three already quite dangerous things, so why on earth would anyone want to combine them? It's probably a question best left to designer Mike Warren, who decided to build what could be the world's most deadly home appliance, for cocktail parties with an edge.
We've seen our fair share of mad inventions here at IBTimes UK, and although Warren's is by no means the most terrifying we've seen, it's definitely up there with the best of them. Spotted by Gadgetify, the Frankenstein appliance combines an off-the-shelf food blender with a 37cc chainsaw and motorcycle throttle assembly that will allow you to mix drinks with tree-felling efficiency. "No one will question your mixology authority" its creator says, and we're inclined to agree.
Warren has posted a step-by-step guide on how to build your own chainsaw blender on DIY site Instructables, which Warren reckons will "delight and excite your party guests".
The creation processes involved taking apart a chainsaw and blender, modifying them and then splicing them together so that the chainsaw's engine would rotate the blender's teeth when powered. When connected to the chainsaw, the motorcycle throttle causes the motor to spin when revved.
Fortunately, the blade arm is just for show and won't spin while powered, and the razor-sharp teeth have been replaced with a much more friendly bike chain. Even so, we'll take our Martinis shaken, thanks.
