Tommy Robinson 'Detained By Terror Police' After Rant About Andy Burnham: 'F--k Your Wars'

Far-right and anti-Islam activist Tommy Robinson claimed that Counter Terrorism Police detained him on Wednesday. The report came directly from Robinson's X account via his admin.

'Tommy has been detained again, at an airport by Counter Terrorism Police. They will never stop trying to destroy this man. Why are they so scared?' the account posted on Wednesday.

Robinson's Anti-Burnham Rant

Robinson's camp thought his detention was related to his rant against Andy Burnham. On X, Robinson posted a video on 22 September 2026 with the caption: 'Fuck your wars' while tagging Burnham's X account.

In the video, Robinson is on his morning run and talking about the Russia-Ukraine war for about three minutes and 18 seconds. He lamented the millions of Ukrainians and Russians who died in the ongoing war and said he doesn't want any of the Britons joining in on the fight.

'We ain't fighting Russians. We'll be fighting you, the establishment...' said Robinson. 'So you think you're going to send our men into foreign lands to fight a bullshit war. You've managed to be successful. You've killed a million Ukrainians and a million Russians, turning them on each other in a war that didn't need to happen,' said Robinson.

Burnham is currently in the US for the United Nations General Assembly. He is also expected to have multiple meetings on the sidelines of the assembly.

'Engaged in Hostile Activity'

Four hours after the account tweeted about his detention, Robinson shared the supposed Notice of Detention Under Schedule 3 to the Counter-Terrorism and Border Security Act 2019. The document cites paragraph 4 of the law, which states: 'An examining officer may exercise the powers under this paragraph whether or not there are grounds for suspecting that a person is or has been engaged in hostile activity.'

The document also clarified that the person detained is not under criminal investigation or arrest, merely under examination. The subject will have to answer questions from the examining officer.

The name on the document was Stephen Lennon, although Robinson's real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. Counter Terrorism Police has yet to issue an official statement as of this writing.

The detention comes amid growing tensions over immigration, asylum and the government's approach to the Channel crossings, issues Robinson has repeatedly criticised in public.

'Intimidation Won't Work'

Robinson believes the administration is using counter-terrorism law enforcement to intimidate him and his other anti-immigrant peers. He posted another long video rant on X with the caption: 'Oi wanker we won't fight your war (Andy Burnham) attempting to intimidate us using counter terrorism won't work either.'

The activist's former bodyguard, Danny Thomas, also known as Danny Tommo, has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage with intent to endanger life. Thomas was filmed slashing a dinghy while a rescue worker was still on board.

Robinson has reached out to fellow right-winger Ezra Isaac Levant, a Canadian media personality, political activist and former lawyer, to help Thomas. Robinson fears for Thomas's freedom: 'They're going to do everything in their power to try and stop Danny's activism; these charges carry a maximum of life in prison. A plan has been hatched to defend Danny against these parasites.'
