Tottenham have all but completed a deal for West Ham defender Winston Reid who is set to join the north London club on a free in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror.
The defender was being actively scouted by Arsenal and Liverpool for a move in January, but West Ham were loath to let him leave, thus putting a £7m tag on his services. The price dissuaded both clubs in their interest, thus paving the way for Tottenham, who have verbally agreed to terms with the player for a switch to north London.
Reid will earn £60,000 a week at White Hart Lane, a move which will rile West Ham, who did everything they could to extend his contract.
However, the New Zealand international wanted to play in Europe and with Tottenham making progress in that front, it was a good opportunity for the player to bring fruition to his ambitions.
Reid cannot sign a pre-contract with Spurs, owing to both teams being part of the Premier League, but a verbal agreement is believed to have been made between the two parties.
Tottenham are likely to be busy on transfer deadline day, especially with a host of transfers, both in and out, lined up in the next few days.
Emmanuel Adebayor is all but set to make his way out of the club, with a host of Premier League clubs and Paris Saint-Germain interested in taking him on loan. Aaron Lennon is expected to leave in a part exchange with Everton for Kevin Mirallas, along with a few other names who are on the list.
Spurs are also preparing a deadline day move for MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, who has been scouted by Arsenal and Tottenham. However, Newcastle are currently front runners for his signature and will need a better bid from Spurs to overthrow any rivalry.
