Tottenham target Suso favours return to Spain if Milan exit beckons
Former Liverpool starlet has excelled this season at the Rossoneri.
Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Suso has not ruled out a move away from Milan at the end of the season, but suggests a return to Spain would be his preferred option.
Suso has thrived in Serie A since joining the Rossoneri in 2015, having been allowed to leave Liverpool following five years on Merseyside.
The former Spain U21 international has become an important first-team player at the San Siro this season, scoring a memorable brace in the Derby della Madonnina against Inter Milan, netting six and providing nine assists in all competitions this season.
His current deal at the club expires in 2019 and while reports suggest talks over a new deal are underway, his impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League.
The Mirror claimed in March Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham have identified him as a target for the summer, possibility as an alternative to more ambitious targets like Everton playmaker Ross Barkley and Real Madrid's Isco.
If Suso is to leave Milan however, a return to his homeland would appear to be a more likely destination.
In an interview with AS, Suso was asked if would like to come back to Spain. He replied: "Hopefully. It is always nice to return to your country, but I have a contract and will have to wait for the summer."
When asked about the possibility of offers coming in from La Liga giants Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, he added: "We will see in the summer, I don't know what will happen with the sale [Milan's on-off sale to Chinese investors], and what kind of project there is."
Suso notes that he is satisfied with life at Milan, but admits he may have to assess his options should offers come in at the end of the season.
"I have two and a half years left and I have always said that I am happy here, but we will see what happens in the summer."
