Overview
Real qualified for the last four of the Europe's elite club competition after defeating their derby rivals Atletico Madrid 1-0 on aggregate. The two sides were separated by on-loan striker Javier Hernandez's goal in the final stages of the second leg.
Bayern Munich came from 3-1 down against FC Porto in the first leg to register a 6-1 victory over the Portuguese outfit. The second leg thrashing helped the Bundesliga winners to seal a berth in the semi final for the third year in a row.
Barcelona also managed a comfortable victory over Paris Saint-Germain, while Juventus defeated AS Monaco to advance to the semi finals of the Champions League.
The semi final pairing is an open draw, meaning a club can face another club of the same association and Real could end up facing Barcelona. The team draw first will play the first leg at home.
The first leg will be held on 5/6 May and the return leg will take place a week later on 12/13 May. No team has managed to retain the Champions League and Real have a very good chance of doing so this season.
