Update Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean Using Odin 3 with Official XXCLL3 Firmware

The Android 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) update, with firmware XXCLL3, was released for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000) users in Germany. The file is now available via Samsung Kies. Users outside Germany can download the file using this guide. The update offers features like a smoother interface, advanced voice recognition and search functionality and a better keyboard, among others. IBTimes UK warns its users it will not be held responsible for damage to the device during this process.

Important

  • Installed custom ROMs will be lost after installation of the official ROM
  • Custom ROM Recovery, such as ClockWorkMod (CWM) or TWRP, will be unavailable after installation of official firmware and will require re-installation
  • Root access will be lost. However, flashing this firmware will not increase binary counter, as it is an official release
  • This firmware is compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000)

Pre-Requisites

  • Ensure battery has at least 80 percent charge
  • Ensure appropriate USB drivers are installed (download here)
  • Ensure USB debugging is enabled (navigate to Settings > Applications > Development)

Downloads

  • Download Android 4.1.1 N8000XXCLL3 ROM for Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000)
  • Download Odin 3.07

Update Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000) to Android 4.1.1 with XXCLL3 Official Firmware

  • Extract downloaded XXCLL3 .zip file to root folder on device (.zip contains .tar and other files)
  • Extract Odin .zip file to tablet (.zip contains Odin3 v3.07.exe and other files)
  • Switch device off and wait for vibration (five to six seconds) to confirm shutdown)
  • Re-start in Download mode (to do so, press and hold Volume Down and Power until Samsung logo appears)
  • Start Odin (as Administrator) and connect device to computer with original USB cable (a successful connection is indicated by a message from Odin - Added; and a COM port will display a number against a yellow background)
    • Note: If no message appears, try connecting to rear USB port on computer)
  • Select these files in the order mentioned
    • Click PDA and choose .tar file named Code
    • Click Phone and choose file named Modem
    • Click CSC and choose file named CSC
    • Click PIT and choose .pit
    • Note: Ignore last three if not found
  • In Odin, select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options and ensure Re-Partition checkbox is selected (only if .pit file was selected)
  • Click Start to begin installation
  • After installation, device reboots automatically (a successful installation is indicated with a message from Odin - Pass)
  • Disconnect device from computer
    • Note: If device is stuck at booting animation, boot into Recovery (press and hold Volume Up and Power), select Wipe Data/Factory Reset options and click Reboot System Now
    • Note: In Recovery mode use Volume keys to navigate and Power key to select options

The Android 4.1.1 based XXCLL3 official Jelly Bean firmware has now been installed on the Galaxy Note 10.1 (N8000). Browse to Settings > About Tablet to verify firmware version installed.
