Usain Bolt not marrying 'first lady' Kasi Bennett any time soon: 'Give me some time'
The Olympics gold medal-winner previously sparked engagement rumours with his Snapchat post.
After facing a storm of controversies over his wild outings and parties with a bevy of women, Usain Bolt has finally opened up about his relationship with his "first lady" Kasi Bennett. The Jamaican sprinter recently appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and divulged bits of information about his relationship with his long-time girlfriend.
"For some reason, everybody is fascinated about your girlfriend. So you will be married soon", the American television host asked the "triple triple" Olympics gold medal-winner. "No, no" Bolt replied immediately and added that he still needs time before deciding to exchange marriage vows. "My mom wants me to get married. So I am like 'give me some time,'" he replied.
DeGeneres later asked the same question again. "Is your girlfriend pushing you on it. She is not saying to put a ring on it [ring finger]?" she asked. "Not yet. I think she might be thinking it. You never know but she is not saying it. So that's good," the 30-year-old athlete answered.
The Rio Olympics star's mother had earlier said she was desperate to have grandchildren. "I would hope he'll settle down, get married and start his family. I know he'll settle down because he has said it. He told me many times that he's going to start his family," she told CNN's Don Riddell at Rio 2016.
Rumours of the couple's engagement started doing the rounds earlier this month following a series of Snapchat video postings by Bolt. The sprinter apparently captioned one of the posts with the words, "She said yes," and adding a bride and heart emoji.
Bennett and Bolt's relationship appeared to hit a rough patch soon after the latter's controversial party pictures and videos surfaced on the internet. He was pictured getting cosy with a Brazilian student on his 30th birthday party in Rio. Soon after the pictures went public, the 26-year-old law student tweeted saying "selfcontrol".
But speculations about their relationship taking a beating were dismissed when the couple's Bora Bora holiday updates made their appearance earlier this month.
However, they have not confirmed whether they are engaged or not.
