Overview
Arsenal have travelled to Scandinavia for the second-leg of pre-season, where they will take on Norwegian club Viking FK following which they will travel to Sweden to take on Manchester City in their final pre-season fixture. The Gunners returned from their pre-season tour of the United States early this week following their wins against the MLS All Stars and Chivas de Guadalajara and Arsene Wenger will be keen to continue their winning momentum in their final two matches.
The French manager will have the services of Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez, who returned to training earlier in the week, but will be without Jack Wilshere, as he was omitted from the travelling party owing to a minor knee injury. Wenger is likely to start the game with the players, who have been training since the start of pre-season, with the more recent arrivals coming on in the second-half. Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding are likely to be involved following their debuts during the US Tour.
Viking FK, on the other hand, are midway through the Norwegian Premier League season and are currently in seventh place in the league. They are one of the most successful clubs in Norway in terms of trophies won in the past, but their last title came in 1991. They finished in fifth place last season, thus missing out on European qualification. They are likely to rest a few of their regular players, as they have a league match coming up against Sogndal on Sunday (7 August).
