Nine Charged Following Stabbing of Liam Woodards at Westfield, Stratford
Nine people have been charged with violent disorder following the death of a man who was stabbed at Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London.
Liam Woodards, 24, was killed during a fight at the centre on 29 June. Two men involved in the brawl also suffered minor injuries.
Three men were originally arrested on 29 June in connection with the murder investigation and a further six were arrested over the course of the weekend of 30 June and 1 July.
Michael Alvaranga, 23 of Leytonstone and Javin Righbie, 22, of Stratford; are due to appear before Barkingside magistrates on 2 July.
Jerome McLeish, 20, of Victoria Docks, Michael Ndefo, 21, Rhys Regisford, 20 and Emmanuel Oloyede, 19, all from Plaistow and Jason Vaughan, 24, Tony Caton, 21, and Danny Caton, 23 from Stratford are all due at Thames Magistrates' Court, also on 2 July.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on 29 June was cautioned with affray and was later released with no further action. A 20-year-old man, who was arrested the same day, has been bailed to return to an east London police station in July pending further inquiries.
A post-mortem revealed Woodards was killed by a single stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives are still appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact them.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Andy Kelly said: "We believe that shoppers at the centre may have filmed or photographed some part of the incident on their mobile phones.
"We encourage them to come forward and share this potentially vital material with us."
A Westfield spokesman said: "We're continuing to work closely with police after Friday's events. Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this difficult time."
