Why NFL star Tom Brady is avoiding sex with supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen

NFL quarterback Tom Brady is allegedly abstaining from sex with supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen.

The 40-year-old sports star reportedly wants a sixth Super Bowl ring and is giving up sex to get it, according to Hollywood Life.

Brady, who shares two children with 37-year-old Bündchen, will head out onto the pitch on 4 February and is prepping for the big game by avoiding his wife between the sheets.

It has long been claimed that pro athletes are superstitious, with baseball pitchers often abstaining from sex the night before a big game – and NFL stars follow suit.

A source told the US publication: "Tom normally abstains from sex for 24 hours before a big game but he's decided to take it to the next level and go without it for 72 hours. Tom and Gisele are both very sexual people and hardly ever go a day without sex, so this is a major break for them."

The insider added: "It's going to be hard for them to stick to this but they will, they're both committed to it. They prepared by having a wild night earlier in the week, but now they're on a sex diet. Gisele is being very supportive. She believes in all the same energy principles that Tom does and would do anything to give him that edge."

Bündchen – who is one of the top-earning models in the world – married Brady in 2009 in a small Catholic Church in Santa Monica, California. They also had a second marriage ceremony in Costa Rica in the same year.

The latest report about the couple comes after Brady sparked an online debate for sharing a kiss on the lips with his son.

The moment was shown as part of a Facebook docu-series called Tom vs. Time, and sees his 11-year-old son asking his dad if he can check his fantasy football standings.

Jack Brady says: "Oh, hello. I was wondering if I could check my fantasy team."

His father replies: "What do I get?" before Jack leans over and kisses him. When Brady says: "That was like a peck!" the child gives his dad a second kiss which was branded as "very disturbing" and "uncomfortably long" by social media users.
