Will Crowley return in Supernatural season 13? 'There were plans to bring him back' says producer
Supernatural returns with new episodes on 12 October on The CW Network.
Actor Mark Sheppard, who plays the lovable Crowley aka King Of Hell in Supernatural series, may have closed the door on his character's return, but the show's executive producer Andrew Dabb is still hopeful for his return.
Dabb told TVLine, "We love Mark. We think he's awesome, and he's been great on the show. At this point in time, [his potential return] is a little up in the air."
Teasing his return in Supernatural season 13 episode 3, Dabb revealed to the outlet, "Where we took Crowley, where he ended up, made sense for us in a lot of different ways. I would never write off anyone coming back on the show, but I'd be lying to you if I said there were plans to bring him back in, like, Episode 3."
In Supernatural season 12 May finale titled, All Along the Watchtower, Crowley came up with a plan to trap Lucifer on the alternate apocalyptic Earth, but to complete that spell, someone had to die.
The King of Hell eventually made the ultimate sacrifice, by killing himself with an angel blade to save everyone.
Sheppard, who made his debut in season 5, took to social media to confirm that he will not return for Supernatural season 13. Alongside a photo of him giving a flying kiss on Instagram, the 52-year-old wrote, "So to all my #spnfamily everywhere... my crew and my fellow storytellers... thanks for the ride. Time for something new. Even when I lose..."
Previously, Jensen Ackles who plays Dean Winchester explained to Hypable about where season 13 will pick up. He told the outlet at San Diego Comic Con back in July, "We pick up right where we left off and, essentially, Dean's lost everybody aside from his brother. He doesn't really know how to respond to that or emotionally process what just happened."
Teasing Lucifer's son's role, he continued, "What he can do is he can go shot someone in the face. So that's what he tries to go do. It doesn't happen. Sam stops him and tries to talks some sense [into him]. But, of course, the kid gets away and now it's a bit of a manhunt."
Supernatural returns with new season on Thursday, 12 October.
