New York's World Finance Centre Evacuated by Bomb Squad in Grenade Scare
The World Finance Centre in New York has been evacuated after a suspicious package, thought to be a grenade, was found.
The FedEx package was being X-rayed by workers at the loading delivery area when the object, which resembled a grenade, was revealed on screen, sources said.
The NYPD bomb squad arrived at the scene and thousands of people were evacuated from the 44-storey building.
The World Finance Centre is home to financial institutions including Merrill Lynch, Deloitte and OppenheimerFunds.
The building is near Ground Zero where al-Qaeda brought down the World Trade Centre on 9/11.
