Zayn Malik and Perrie Edwards: Former One Direction star dumped Little Mix singer for forcing 'to set wedding date'
Former One Direction star Zayn Malik called off his engagement with Perrie Edwards after the Little Mix singer pressured him to set a wedding date.
Malik and Edwards started dating in December 2011 after meeting on the set of The X Factor. The couple who got engaged in August 2013, were reportedly planning to get married at Disneyland Paris in June.
"Zayn and Perrie had been struggling for months. She's been touring and he's been focusing on the second chapter in his career. They barely saw each other and they hadn't even had sex in over two months. The further they fell apart, the more anxious she got and the more she started pressing him to set a wedding date. She pushed and pushed and finally Zayn told her he didn't want to get married," a source told Hollywood Life.
"She was really worried about the split and had been crying a lot on tour. Fortunately, her band mates have been there for her," the insider added.
In an interview with E!, Edwards was asked how she is doing after the split, to which she replied: "I'm good, thank you."
After five years with the group, Malik announced he is quitting the British boy band in March.
One Direction fans had blamed Edwards for the 22-year-old singer's decision to quit the boy band.
Meanwhile, during an interview with Heat Magazine, X Factor mentor Sinitta said if Malik left the band because of his loyalty to Edwards, then he could not have made a more public declaration of love.
"If that was the reason he left the band, that's a pretty huge declaration of dedication. I don't think any cute girl can replace the closeness they have. They've both had the same experience of doing a talent show and becoming huge stars... that creates a bond that I don't think an affair could break," she said, according to Daily Mail.
