3D printed glass lets you drink whisky in space
Scottish scotch whisky producer Ballantine's have created a glass they claim would enable astronauts in space to drink whisky from a glass instead of using a straw. The 3D printed glass encapsulates the drink inside a base plate and prevents it from moving out of the glass in microgravity by setting a layer in the middle of the glass.
The drinker then sips the whisky through hollow tubes around the glass and out of a mouth clip similar to a straw. The glass was dropped from the ZARM drop tower in Bremen, Germany to test its function in simulated microgravity.
