50 Cent gushes about Daphne Joy as former couple move on from domestic violence case
The model, who has just launched her own OMG Miami Swimwear line, is mother of Fiddy's three-year-old son.
They have had their share of upheavals, but it looks like 50 Cent and his son's mother, Daphne Joy, have managed to turn their notoriously tempestuous relationship around. The rapper has posted a rare gushing tweeting about his former flame.
Coming out in support of the former model as she launched her OMG Miami Swimwear line, he shared a snap of her in a part-net long-sleeve swimsuit with the caption: "So my baby's mother @daphnejoy designed a swim suit line. focus on the swim suit OK. #EFFENVODKA I need a drink "
His post got the seal of approval from many of his 11m followers, with some urging him to give their romance another go: "@50cent you'll just need to get it popping again and have another kid and just make the shit work, son you already know she fire and down for the count just get her get money be happier man "
Another commentator added: "So is she's 50 lady or ex? What the Effen vodka @50cent win her back."
The hip-hop star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, dated Joy, 29, for three years and the model gave birth to his second child− a boy called Sire −in 2012. The couple's relationship made headlines in 2013 when he was charged with domestic violence and vandalism after he allegedly broke into her home in Toluca Lake, California, kicking her and causing over $7,000 (£4,600) of damage to her property. Joy later told police she hid in her bathroom during the fracas.
At the height of the scandal, city attorney Mike Feuer said the rapper was not above the law despite his celebrity status. "Regardless of perceived celebrity or notoriety, domestic violence is a serious crime and alleged perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law by this office," he said."We will continue to look out for the safety of all victims of domestic violence and seek justice for the alleged crimes."
According to TMZ, he escaped a jail sentence after entering a plea bargain with prosecutors over the domestic violence case. Meanwhile, Joy is officially back on the market following her recent split from singer Jason Derulo. The former lovebirds called time on their romance back in May after six months together.
