Overview
The fourth and final quarter-final of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament sees fifth seed Gael Monfils face 18-year-old Alexander Zverev in Rotterdam on 12 February, Friday. The unpredictable Frenchman who beat Croatian Borna Coric 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 in the round of 16 is playing like he has a point to prove, having been criticized from all quarters for his form recently.
Hailed as the best player never to have a "Grand Slam", Monfils reached the quarter-final of the Australian Open but was unable to progress further. Consistency has dogged the Frenchman throughout his career. If only he could play consistently he would stand a great chance of winning his first title at Rotterdam.
Monfils's opponent, the 18-year-old wildcard Alexander Zverev continues to impress, shocking number three seed Gilles Simon 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4) to reach the quarter-finals in what was an almost three-hour encounter at the Ahoy Arena. Yet to win a career title, the German though is playing well above his career ranking of number 70, and could spring a surprise if taken lightly.
Betting Odds (888sport)
