Overview
The third quarter-final of the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament will see second seed Marin Cilic face Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber on 12 February, Friday. Cilic, who was the finalist in the 2014 edition, was given a tough fight by Gilles Muller in the round of 16, eventually scraping through for a tense 7-6,7-6 win over the Luxembourg veteran.
The 2014 US Open champion is still struggling for form, despite which he comes into the clash as the favourite. Cilic had a disappointing run in the recently concluded Australia Open and will be looking to put that behind him as he aims to secure his first ATP title of 2016.
The underrated Philipp Kohlschreiber who has criminally been overlooked his entire career, booked his spot into the quarters after beating Ivan Dodig of Croatia 6-4, 6-2. The German proved clinical on Dodig's serve, converting four of five break-point chances while winning 75% of points on second serve. The German, who reached the quarter-finals of the 2014 edition, will be looking to pull off an upset considering Cilic is yet to hit top form.
