Adele leaves Spice Girls' Mel B 'speechless' after staking claim to girl power
Mel B was left 'speechless' after Adele performed a live cover of Spice Up Your Life on 3 June, at a show in Amsterdam.
While on stage, the 28-year-old singer sang it after fans kept chanting: "...Spice Girls". During a conference for NBC's America's Got Talent, Mel B (aka. Scary Spice) said she was blown away by Adele's acknowledgment. The judge of the US talent show revealed she was a big Adele fan, gushing: "It leaves me speechless a little bit."
The 41-year-old Spice Girl continued: "I love Adele. I love the fact that she kind of tips her hat off to us and gives us props. I mean who isn't a fan of Adele? So, to know that she's a fan of the Spice Girls is definitely one for the books."
Mel C also retweeted a video of the moment with a series of heart-emojis. After watching the performance, Geri Halliwell also tweeted: "Go Adele".
This isn't the first time Adele's entertained fans with Spice Girls classics. The songstress chose Wannabe on The Late Late Show with James Corden in his Carpool Karaoke segment in January. Confessing her love for the girl group, she said: "It was a huge moment in my life when they came out. Girl power and just five ordinary girls who did so well". At the time of her carpool performance, Victoria Beckham tweeted "this is genius".
With all the endorsements, all Adele needs now is a Spice Girl moniker and an invitation to join their 20th anniversary world tour.
Adele has a lot to celebrate after signing a £90m deal with Sony, netting the biggest record deal in history. The London-born singer signed with the global music giants after her contract with independent label XL expired.
