Deadpool could be turned into an adult animated comedy after success of Archer
FXX has ordered 10 episodes of the anti-hero animated series to be produced by Atlanta's Donald Glover.
Everyone's favourite badass, Deadpool is coming to television. FXX has ordered a 10-episode animated show on the Marvel anti-hero set to debut in 2018. Atlanta star / creator Donald Glover is set to helm the adult action-comedy series along with co-showrunner and writer brother Stephen Glover.
The channel already has its hit animated show in the form of Archer, which moved from sister network FX to FXX for its eighth season. The yet-untitled Deadpool-based series will follow in Archer's footsteps to provide adult animation comedy produced by Marvel TV.
This will be Marvel's second collaboration with FX. The two entities worked together on the live-action drama series Legion, which will most likely debut in February 2018.
"Donald Glover is an incredibly gifted and versatile artist who'll bring the untitled Marvel's Deadpool series to life with the same intense, singular vision as his breakout hit Atlanta," said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions, according to Deadline.
"With the success of Legion, we're looking forward to again partnering with Marvel Television to create a series that is bold, striking and entirely original."
Marvel TV chief Jeph Loeb also mentioned the success of Legion while making the announcement about the new project. "How much more fun could this be? Deadpool, Donald and FX – the perfect fit for the Merc with the Mouth!" he said."We're thrilled that our relationship with FX that started with Legion continues with what is sure to be a groundbreaking show in adult animation."
