Cannes film festival's red carpet has witnessed some of the best outfits and looks from Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. After donning a couple of sheer and gold gowns complemented by her love for deep red pouts, the global heartthrob seems to have scored a miss with her purple lips. Dressed in a Rami Kadi floral gown, the brand ambassador of L'Oreal was subjected to Twitter ridicule as fans mocked her for her not-so-flattering choice of lip colour.

"When Asian Paints sponsors your lipstick," a user shared on the micro-blogging site taking a dig at the 42-year-old actress' mismatched lilac lips that nearly stole the attention off her gown. Perhaps the purple lips was an attempt at drama in Bachchan missus' otherwise safe wardrobe choices when it comes to red carpet appearances at Cannes.

She had earlier sported an elegant cape-gown by Ali Younes and a shimmering dress by Ellie Saab and completely wowed her fans when she posed in a flowy Naeem Khan red dress overseeing the river.

The mother-of-one is a regular at the Cannes film festival and 2016 marks her 15th year on the world's most-scrutinised and prestigious red carpet event. Among her best remembered dresses is her 2014 appearance in a gold Roberto Cavalli dress complemented by her scarlet pout that let the actress flaunt her post-pregnancy body.

Considering the actress is one of the global figures and a representative of India on the Cannes red carpet, fans expect nothing but a drop-dead gorgeous Aishwarya.

The former Miss World, who was attending the screening of her film Sarbjit at the Cannes film festival, sported her lavender lips in an off-shoulder gown from Kadi's "May Blossom" collection. With her no-fuss high pony and matt-smokey eyes, the actress looked like a diva on duty, while her lips were a different story altogether.
