Aishwarya Rai Sizzles as Host of AIDS Charity Gala with Husband at Cannes
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan played hosts at an AIDS charity gala at Cannes on Thursday night.
The Bollywood star couple hosted a number of A-list celebrities from across the world at the Cinema Against AIDS 2014 event organised by amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research.
The annual star-studded event was held at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France.
Aishwarya Rai, who has made heads turn to her stunning red carpet appearances at the 67th Cannes Film Festival, outshined at the event in a shimmery Armani gown.
The floor-length gown from the designer's Fall 2013 collection featured flared top and a skirt. The 40-year-old actress completed her elegant ensemble with bold red lip colour and turquoise eye shadow.
Abhishek Bachchan, who co-hosted the event along with his wife, opted for an impressive black long bandhgala suit (an Indian outfit featuring closed neck jacket and trousers).
"Tonight to the 21st annual Cinema Against AIDS event with the Mrs. to support @amfAR 's mission to find a cure for HIV," the 38-year-old actor wrote on Twitter ahead of the gala.
Aishwarya and Abhishesk were joined by other chairs of the event, including amfAR Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone, amfAR Ambassador Milla Jovovich, Heidi Klum, former French First Lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, John Travolta, Kelly Preston, Carine Roitfeld, and amfAR Chairman Kenneth Cole.
The annual gala, currently in its 21st edition, is the Cannes film festival's largest charity ball to raise money for AIDS research. This year, the stars gathered to raise $38 million for charity, Hollywood producer and one of the chairs of the event, Harvey Weinstein announced.
The other A-list guests who made an appearance to support the annual charity gala were Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst and Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber among others.
