Alaska: Pro skier Ian McIntosh survives terrifying 1,600ft fall in Neacola mountain range
A new video shows a skier survive a terrifying fall, after tumbling more than 1,600ft (488m) in under a minute. Pro skier Ian McIntosh fell down a mountain in the Neacola range in Alaska on 10 April.
McIntosh fell into a trench near the beginning of the run. "From there, my slough took over and their was no way to stop, I pulled my airbag to help prevent against any possible trauma injuries as I tumbled to the bottom," he added.
The 24-year-old survived the fall with only minor injuries. The footage was taken as part of the Teton Gravity Research (TGR) documentary Paradise Waits, and the company uploaded this dramatic fall on to YouTube on 5 November. At the time TGR co-founder Todd Jones said it was "the most terrifying crash [he'd] ever seen".
