Alexis Sanchez Will Become Arsenal's Highest Paid Alongside Mesut Ozil
Chilean World Cup star Alexis Sanchez will become the highest-paid player at Arsenal alongside former Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil, reports in Chile claim.
The Chile international forward is expected to complete his move to the Emirates Stadium in the coming days for a reported fee of around £28m.
Manager Arsene Wenger himself recently revealed the negotiations with Barcelona were almost "done". It is also understood that Barcelona expect to finalise its Luis Suarez's deal with Liverpool and that it plans to announce this appointment at the same time as Sanchez's departure.
Sanchez's move from Barcelona to Arsenal will become the second most-expensive deal in the North London club after Wenger broke the bank last summer to bring Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid for £42.5m.
And according to prestigious Chilean newspaper La Tercera, the former Barcelona star will also be the highest-paid player in the squad alongside Ozil himself.
The report claims Sanchez will sign a four-year contract at the Emirates Stadium worth £140,000 a week – the same as Ozil – while at Barcelona he was earning somewhere in excess of £100,000.
Juventus and Liverpool have reportedly tried to hijack the deal until the very last minute but, according to the reports, Sanchez considered since the very beginning that the Gunner's salary offer and the chance to move to London was indeed his favourite option.
Sanchez has had a fantastic World Cup for Chile and he already impressed at Barcelona last campaign scoring 19 goals and providing 10 assists in the league.
Wenger values his versatility to cover both Olivier Giroud up-front and either of the attacking flanks.
Arsenal are yet to complete any signing this summer but, apart from Sanchez, they are reportedly in advance negotiations with Newscastle for French international Mathieu Debuchy.
Furthermore, the Gunners have recently been linked with striker Loic Remy, Real Madrid star Sami Khedira and Atletico Madrid young talent Javier Manquillo.
