American Horror Story season 6 spoilers: Lady Gaga will return but is The Countess dead?
The news that American Horror Story fans have been waiting for has finally been confirmed: Lady Gaga will return in season 6. The singer and actress revealed her involvement in the next instalment of the Fox series during an interview with New York radio station Z100.
When asked on the Elvis Duran and the Morning Show if she would be back for a second round of horror, despite the apparent demise of her vampish character Countess, she a simply answered "yes".
That means that she will be joining the already-announced Angela Bassett and Sarah Paulson for the forthcoming season. However, she remained tight-lipped about whether it was a full role or a cameo, adding: "I can't promise you how or when or anything like that."
The news comes just weeks after the 29-year-old took home the best performance by an actress in a limited series or motion picture made for television award at the 2016 Golden Globes. She beat the like of more established actresses such as Queen Latifah, Kirsten Dunst, Sarah Hay and Felicity Huffman.
It was previously reported that the show's creators have focused on Slender Man – a black-suited character with long arms who stalks children, which originated from an internet meme – in the forthcoming series.
Slender Man was the brainchild of Eric Knudsen, also known as Victor Surge, in 2009. The haunting character has since appeared in several games and is set to appear in some upcoming films after becoming a horror icon. FX chief John Landgraf revealed in January that the new story will be "principally set in the present".
"Someone else wrote the script, and AHS wants to adapt it to fit the show," an insider from the show reportedly told US Weekly. "They have to buy the rights. Then they're going to figure out the cast from there."
FX has yet to announce an official premiere date for American Horror Story Season 6.
