Amir Khan Sends Message to Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao
Amir Khan produced a dominant performance to defeat Luis Collazo and enhance his hopes of facing Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao before the end of the 2014.
In the Brit's first fight for 13 months Khan floored Collazo twice in rounds four and 10 before securing a unanimous points victory on his welterweight debut.
Khan has made no secret of his desire to meet with either Mayweather, who overcame Marcos Maidana on the same card in Las Vegas, or Pacquiao in the near future and hopes his showing will win a meeting with either of the pair.
"People want to see that fight between me and Floyd," Khan said. "He's fighting guys who are strong, but styles make fights, and I believe my style would cause Floyd a lot of trouble.
"Collazo has been beaten before but they were close fights when he fought Shane Mosley and Andre Berto."
The 27 year old was denied a meeting with Mayweather this month despite finishing top of an online fans poll, ahead of the unbeaten American's eventual opponent Maidana.
The Argentine produced a spirited showing in defeat to Mayweather and is keen for a rematch later this year, a move which would once again hinder Khan's ambitions.
"Enough words, just give me the f*****g rematch," Maidana said. "He's a great boxer and a great fighter.
"I definitely think I won. Floyd did not fight like a man like I expected him to do. I had to change the gloves [after a last-minute problem with his original gloves on Friday] and I still gave him a great fight. He did dominate some rounds but the majority, I dominated them.
"Yes, I did go after him. He's a difficult fighter but I won. I would have to give him a rematch because I won the fight [because Mayweather had a rematch clause in his contract]. Yes, I would give him a rematch."
Mayweather, now unbeaten in 46 professional fights, said: "If the fans want to see it again. Let's do it again."
"This was a tough, competitive fight. This is what fans want to see. I want to give fans an exciting fight. Normally, I box and move.
"Tonight, I gave fans an exciting fight. He put pressure on me and that's when I decided to fight differently. I stood there and fought him. He's a good fighter, I take nothing away from him."
