Android 5.0 Final Preview for Galaxy S5 Leaked with Improved Performance and Optimised Gallery App
The final Android 5.0 Lollipop preview build for Samsung Galaxy S5 has been leaked.
According to screenshots shared by Sammobile, the leak is based on a newer Lollipop build with baseband version G900FXXUI for the European model of Galaxy S5 bearing model number SM-G900F.
Compared to the Android Lollipop test build for Galaxy S4, which showed up recently, the Lollipop build for Galaxy S5 does not bring too many changes, except new icons in the Toolbox that allow quick access to a few functions from anywhere on the phone.
The final build improves the performance, making the device faster and smoother. Also, the gallery app, which is usually slow on Samsung devices, seems to have been more optimised in the Android Lollipop build.
The Lollipop build leak suggests that the update is not too far. Sammobile, citing sources, reports that the Android 5.0 update will go live for the Galaxy S5 in December. It could take at a month or so for the update to become available across the globe.
For the uninitiated, Android 5.0 is the major update to the OS since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version. The latest Android version integrates a new design dubbed material design. Samsung will add some changes to its TouchWiz user experience.
Included in the update are lockscreen notifications, multi-user support for phones, support for 64-bit processor, file sharing through Android Beam, increased performance with a switch to the new ART runtime and battery life enhancements.
