Android 5.1 confirmed for Motorola Moto G 4G LTE users on Rogers in Canada: Check for new OTA notifications
Users of Motorola's Moto G 4G LTE edition in Canada, who have subscribed to Rogers' wireless network services in the country, have lots to cheer about as their smartphones are now confirmed to directly receive Google's newer Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS update bypassing the comparatively older Android 5.0 (Lollipop) firmware upgrade.
The above development has surfaced via the official Rogers' community forum listings, first spotted by MobileSyrup.
According to these listings, the Moto G 4G LTE variant will officially receive Android 5.1 OS update beginning June 2015, hence users of Rogers-driven Moto G 4G LTE can check out for Android 5.1 right from 1 June 2015 and let us know the rollout status of the OS update in our comments section below.
Android 5.1 for Rogers-driven Moto G 4G LTE, will be available in the form of automatic OTA notifications, and can also be manually searched-for and downloaded/installed.
What's new with Android 5.1
Since Moto G 4G LTE users on Rogers will receive Android 5.1 by bypassing Android 5.0, these users can expect all enhancements present in Android 5.0 after they install the Android 5.1 OS update.
Enhancements brought along by Android 5.0:
Moto G users (on Rogers) will notice a brand new Material design UI and improved lockscreen notifications, after updating to the Android 5.0 OS.
Besides a new Recent Apps menu, the update brings along the Android ART runtime, which launches applications much faster.
Users will also notice a new Quick Settings menu and a new battery saver mode, which has been implemented as a result of Google's project Volta.
The new improved battery saver claims to automatically adjust the brightness of display and limits updates occurring in the background, leading to the overall battery life being enhanced by several notches.
Apart from the above newer aspects, Android 5.1 also incorporates fixes to multiple known issues inherent in Android 5.0. Click here to know a list of issues that Android 5.1 addresses.
